About

Achillea Research, Inc., was founded by Dr. Jovan Bebic, who set out to apply multidisciplinary approaches to develop disruptive solutions to power engineering problems at all scales—from interconnected transmission systems, to mobile electric platforms of military vehicles.

Jovan has over 30 years of industry experience in roles spanning equipment design, field service, engineering consulting, and industrial research. Prior to founding Achillea Research in 2019, he spent the last 15 years of his career with General Electric in roles of increasing responsibility, including that of a managing director for Power Systems Operation and Planning in GE Energy Consulting, and a chief engineer for the Electric Power Discipline in GE Research.

Jovan serves the organization today as its president and CEO. Achillea Research, Inc., is a New York based corporation, located in Schenectady, the birthplace of General Electric. While the reasons for choosing the location were born out of convenience, the location is unexpectedly strategic. Located centrally between New York City, Boston, and Montreal, it affords access to four major utilities, two independent system operators, and five major engineering schools, all within a day’s drive.

A quick note about the name, since we get that question often: Achillea, pronounced as “A-ki-le-uh,” is a group of flowering plants that grow in this region. It is named after the Greek mythological character Achilles, whose soldiers carried the plants to battle to treat their wounds. We chose Achillea as the root of the company name and incorporated on the 100th anniversary of Armistice to express our commitment to serving the defense industry. Another symbolism within the name is related to the variety of this plant’s species. The genus Achillea has nearly 1000 species and subspecies, which reflects our ambition to develop and commercialize many derivative technologies within our core competencies.
